What is the best speaker for a sports hall in Madrid?

Sports halls in Madrid typically have high ceilings, hard reflective surfaces and large open volumes, which create long reverberation times and make speech intelligibility a challenge. The primary requirement is highly directional loudspeakers that focus sound onto the audience area and minimise energy radiated onto walls and ceilings. SSOUNDS install loudspeakers are engineered for exactly this environment, with models that combine high SPL, controlled directivity and rugged construction.

For most sports halls, SSOUNDS recommends slim column loudspeakers such as the LC8.2 or LC16.2. These provide a narrow vertical coverage pattern that keeps sound off the ceiling and floor, improving speech clarity for announcements and referee calls. Where higher output or broader horizontal coverage is needed, clustered point-source boxes from the SSOUNDS P series (P4, P5, P6T, P10T, P12T) or M series can be used. The T models operate on 70/100 V lines for long cable runs, which is common in large sports halls. Ceiling loudspeakers like the CL6 and CL8 are suitable for lower ceilings or ancillary spaces such as changing rooms and corridors.

Selection and sizing depend on the hall's dimensions, surface materials and target SPL. As a starting point, define the primary listening area (typically the spectator seating and court perimeter), then choose a loudspeaker with a coverage pattern that matches that area from the available mounting height. For speech, aim for a direct-to-reverberant ratio that keeps STI above 0.5. SSOUNDS A series networked amplifiers with DSP and Dante provide the processing, delay and EQ needed to optimise the system. Impact-rated enclosures are available for wall or ceiling mounting where ball impact is a risk.

SSOUNDS designs and installs sound systems for sports halls and other venues across Madrid, working with integrators, consultants and venue technical directors. For a detailed proposal, contact SSOUNDS with your hall's dimensions and requirements.
