01  Safety

  • Read this manual completely before installing or operating the SSOUNDS XTO 10P.
  • This equipment is intended for use by trained professionals. It is not a consumer product.
  • Sustained high sound pressure levels cause permanent hearing damage. Protect yourself and the audience, and observe local noise-at-work limits.
  • Suspended loudspeakers can kill. Flying must be designed, executed and inspected by a competent rigger in accordance with local regulations and the load limits in this manual.
  • Never exceed the stated maximum number of elements per hang, and never suspend from handles, grilles or any point not designed for suspension.
  • Do not operate the unit if the enclosure, grille, connectors or rigging hardware are damaged. Withdraw it from service and have it inspected.
  • Keep the unit dry unless it is rated otherwise. Do not restrict ventilation.

02  Unpacking and inspection

Inspect the shipping carton before opening. If there is visible damage, photograph it and notify the carrier and support@s-soundspro.com before proceeding. Retain the packaging: it is the only approved way to return the product under warranty.

  • Check the enclosure, grille and finish for transit damage.
  • Check every connector for bent or displaced contacts.
  • Check all rigging hardware for deformation, cracks, corrosion or missing pins before first use.
  • Confirm the model and serial number against your delivery documentation.

03  Product overview

Mid-format element of the XTO System, 3-way 10″, 100° constant directivity, 144 dB peak, 0°–14° splay.

Dimensions (H × W × D)320 × 780 × 560 mm
Net weight38 kg / 84 lb
Enclosure15 mm Baltic birch · Polyurea finish
GrillePowder-coated perforated steel with acoustic cloth backing
Handles2 side · 2 rear recessed
Low frequency2 × 10″ cone drivers, dipolar arrangement · 16 Ω
Mid frequency1 × 8″ horn-loaded cone driver · 16 Ω
High frequency2 × 2.7″ diaphragm compression drivers on isophasic waveguide · 16 Ω

04  Connections

Make all connections with the amplifier powered down and its outputs muted.

Connectors2 × NL8 speakON (in / link)
Pin map1+/1− LF1 · 2+/2− LF2 · 3+/3− MF · 4+/4− HF
Nominal impedanceLF1 16 Ω · LF2 16 Ω · MF 16 Ω · HF 16 Ω

Observe the pin assignment exactly: a mis-patched multipin can drive a compression driver from a low-frequency channel and destroy it instantly. Verify every loom and coupler before first use and after any repair, and label looms at both ends. Do not assume an unmarked loom follows this map.

05  Amplification and system setup

Use the SSOUNDS system preset for the SSOUNDS XTO 10P on a supported DSP amplifier. The preset carries the crossover, driver protection, delay alignment and equalisation this product is designed around. Running it without the preset removes that protection and voids the warranty on driver failure.

AmplificationQuad-amplified by SSOUNDS D24X system DSP amplifier (D14X drives 2 cabinets)
Cabinets per amplifier2 per D14X · up to 4 per D24X · four 16 Ω sections in parallel present 4 Ω per channel
Crossover220 Hz · 900 Hz
Load presentedLF1 16 Ω · LF2 16 Ω · MF 16 Ω · HF 16 Ω
  • Confirm the amplifier is loaded with the correct preset and firmware before every deployment.
  • Do not parallel more cabinets per channel than stated above; the resulting load can take the amplifier below its rated minimum impedance.
  • Set gain structure so the amplifier limiters, not the console, define the system ceiling.

06  Flying and rigging

Array design, load calculation and inspection are the responsibility of a competent rigger. Model the hang in a recognised prediction tool, verify the working load limit of every component in the chain, including bumper, motor, sling and structure, and apply the safety factor required by local regulation.

Rigging systemHigh-grade titanium 3-point captive rigging · colour-coded splay pins
Splay angles0° – 14° adjustable
Maximum elements per hangUp to 24 elements per hang
Array compatibilityShares cabinet dimensions and rigging with XTO 8P, locks directly as far-throw and downfill; locks with XTO 12P via transition hardware
Net weight per element38 kg / 84 lb
  • Engage every captive pin fully and confirm it is locked before taking the load.
  • Never suspend from handles, grille, or connector panels.
  • Fit a secondary safety where regulation requires it.
  • Inspect all rigging components before every deployment and withdraw any part that is deformed, cracked, corroded or of unknown history.
  • Do not modify rigging hardware, and do not substitute non-SSOUNDS parts.

07  Ground stacking and placement

  • Stack only on a level, load-rated surface capable of carrying the total mass.
  • Account for 38 kg / 84 lb per element when calculating the total load on staging or a sub platform.
  • Secure stacks against being pushed over: by wind outdoors, or by crowd contact.
  • Keep ventilation paths and rear panels clear.

08  Operating limits

Maximum SPL144 dB peak @ 1 m

Published maxima are specified under the conditions stated on the data sheet and are not a continuous operating target. Sustained operation into limiting shortens driver life. If the system is limiting to reach the required level, the system is too small for the venue. Add elements rather than drive harder.

09  Care, maintenance and inspection

  • Clean the enclosure with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use solvents.
  • Vacuum the grille from the outside; do not push debris through it.
  • Keep connectors clean and dry; cap unused multipin connectors in transit.
  • Store in transit protection, off the floor, in a dry space.
Before every deploymentVisual check of enclosure, grille, connectors and all rigging hardware
Every 12 monthsDetailed inspection by a competent person; rigging hardware inspected and recorded
After any impact or fallWithdraw from service and inspect before reuse

10  Troubleshooting

No output from one sectionCheck amplifier channel, preset assignment and the multipin pin map; swap the loom to isolate.
Distortion at moderate levelCheck for a driven-into-limit amplifier channel, a wrong preset, or a damaged driver. Stop and investigate.
Level lower than expectedConfirm the correct preset, check for a polarity error between cabinets, and verify the load per amplifier channel.
Intermittent outputSuspect the loom or connector before the cabinet. Re-terminate or replace and re-test.
Rattle or buzzCheck grille fixings, handles and hardware before assuming driver damage.

If a fault persists, stop using the unit and contact support@s-soundspro.com with the model, serial number and a description of the fault.

Limited warranty: two (2) years

SSOUNDS products are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the original date of purchase by the end user. Within that period SSOUNDS will, at its option, repair or replace the defective item with no charge for parts or labour. The item must be adequately packaged and dispatched, carriage pre-paid, to SSOUNDS or an SSOUNDS-authorised service centre, accompanied by proof of purchase and a returns reference issued in advance by SSOUNDS. Unauthorised repair, modification or removal of serial-number labelling voids this warranty.

This warranty does not cover

  • Cosmetic wear, finish, grille cloth, paintwork and consumable parts.
  • Damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, or operation outside the published ratings on this sheet.
  • Damage caused by transport or handling after delivery, or by inadequate packaging on return.
  • Damage caused by mains or generator supply faults (over-voltage, under-voltage, phase imbalance, surge or incorrect earthing) or by lightning.
  • Water, dust or corrosion ingress on products not carrying a published IP rating for the conditions of use.
  • Damage resulting from amplification or processing outside the recommended configuration on this sheet, or from third-party presets.
  • Products not purchased from SSOUNDS or an SSOUNDS-authorised distributor.

This warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, any statutory rights the purchaser may have under applicable consumer law. It is the sole warranty offered; no other warranty, express or implied, is given.
