El XTO S218F es la versión volada del XTO S218. Mismo diseño acústico dual de 18″, misma configuración lista para cardioide, diferente rigging: utiliza el riel compartido de XTO, por lo que vuela por encima del colgado principal o en su propia columna al lado, sin un lenguaje de rigging separado ni una lista de repuestos separada. Volar la gama baja en lugar de apilarla es lo que permite una cobertura uniforme de adelante hacia atrás en un estadio en forma de tazón, y una columna cardioide volada es lo que la mantiene fuera del escenario y de los asientos detrás del array. Los arcos apilados en el suelo y los bloques de fin de fuego todavía tienen su lugar, y el S218 sigue siendo la caja para eso; la mayoría de los sistemas grandes terminan usando ambos.

Measurement conditions

  1. Maximum SPL is the peak level at 1 m, driven with pink noise at crest factor 4 to the clipping point of the recommended amplifier, with the SSOUNDS system preset applied. Full-range enclosures are specified under free-field conditions; figures marked half-space are specified over a reflecting plane, the condition subwoofers are deployed in, which adds approximately 6 dB.
  2. Frequency response is specified on axis at 1 m in a free field. The tolerance the figure is referenced to is stated alongside it; where no tolerance is given, the figure is the −6 dB bandwidth.
  3. Sensitivity is specified at 1 W into the nominal impedance at 1 m on axis, averaged across the pass band of the enclosure.
  4. Recommended amplifier power is the amplifier output SSOUNDS specifies for this enclosure, driven with the SSOUNDS system preset. It guides amplifier selection and is not an AES power-handling rating for the transducers.
  5. Nominal impedance is the manufacturer's rating for amplifier load calculation; minimum impedance across the operating band may be lower.
  6. All figures are typical values for production units specified under the conditions above. Individual units may vary within published tolerances.

System operation

Recommended: SSOUNDS D24X, one channel per XTO S218F (4 Ω) with the S218 preset loaded. Cardioid presets are supplied for three- and four-box columns. A flown subwoofer column is normally run as its own zone, so its arrival time and its cardioid rear rejection can be set independently of the ground-stacked arcs.
