XTO System

One touring platform: array elements, subwoofers, amplification and rigging designed together and specified as a single system.

XTO stands for Xtended Touring Output. The large-format touring platform: the elements built for the longest throws and the highest output in the range, rigged and amplified as one system.

The XTO System is the SSOUNDS large-format touring platform. It is not a range of loudspeakers that happen to share a name. Every element flies on the same rigging language, is driven and processed by the same amplifier platform, is looped by the same Socapex touring loom, and packs on the same dollies, so a design drawn for one scale of show scales up or down without changing the method.

That matters at the point where a system is specified rather than admired. A rental inventory buys into a rigging standard and an amplifier count, not into individual boxes. An engineer arriving at a festival changeover needs the hang in front of them to behave like the one they flew last week. The XTO System is built so that it does.

Members are chosen by the job: the size of the room, the throw, the low-frequency requirement and the sightline. What does not change is the rigging, the amplification, the presets and the transport.

One rigging language

Captive three-point steel and aluminium rigging with titanium splay pins across the array elements, with a shared bumper and fly-track ecosystem. Splay is set on the ground and stays set.

One amplifier platform

Every powered member is driven and processed by the SSOUNDS D-series system amplifier. Channel counts and cabinets per amplifier are published per element, so an inventory is sized in amplifiers, not in guesswork.

One preset library

Array, subwoofer and cardioid presets are issued together and versioned together, so an element and its processing are never out of step.

One transport ecosystem

Shared dollies, transit jackets and weather covers, sized to truck pack. Accessories are published as part of the system rather than as afterthoughts.

Array elements

The flown elements. Chosen by throw and by how much of the sightline the hang is allowed to occupy.

Subwoofers

Flown or ground stacked, and configurable as cardioid arrays to keep energy off the stage.

Amplification and processing

The system amplifier is part of the system, not an accessory to it.

Rigging and transport

The parts that decide how quickly a system loads in, and how it survives the year.

Specifying the system

Stadium and festival

XTO 12P main hangs with S218 subwoofers, flown or in cardioid ground arrays, and 10P or 8P for outfill and delay. Vertical pattern control at the bottom of the range comes from array length, so the published coverage-by-array-size table is the starting point for these designs.

Arena and large corporate

XTO 10P mains with S18 or S218 subwoofers and 8P for downfill and front infill, on a single D-series amplifier rack.

Theatre, house of worship and conference

XTO 8P or 4.6 where the hang has to stay out of the sightline, with S18 subwoofers where the programme needs low-frequency extension.
