Part of the XTO System

The largest element. Stadium main hangs, side-firing 10" cardioid cancellation, one D34X per box.

XTO stands for Xtended Touring Output. The large-format touring platform: the elements built for the longest throws and the highest output in the range, rigged and amplified as one system.

Measurement conditions

  1. Maximum SPL is the peak level at 1 m, driven with pink noise at crest factor 4 to the clipping point of the recommended amplifier, with the SSOUNDS system preset applied. Full-range enclosures are specified under free-field conditions; figures marked half-space are specified over a reflecting plane, the condition subwoofers are deployed in, which adds approximately 6 dB.
  2. Frequency response is specified on axis at 1 m in a free field. The tolerance the figure is referenced to is stated alongside it; where no tolerance is given, the figure is the −6 dB bandwidth.
  3. Coverage angles are nominal −6 dB values averaged across the pass band. Per-octave directivity data is available from SSOUNDS system design support for prediction and modelling.
  4. Recommended amplifier power is the amplifier output SSOUNDS specifies for this enclosure, driven with the SSOUNDS system preset. It guides amplifier selection and is not an AES power-handling rating for the transducers.
  5. Net weight excludes packaging, flight case, accessories and optional rigging hardware.
  6. Dimensions are stated in millimetres and exclude protruding rigging hardware, handles and connector panels unless noted.
  7. All figures are typical values for production units specified under the conditions above. Individual units may vary within published tolerances.

System operation

Recommended: one SSOUNDS D34X per XTO 14P. The amplifier's four channels drive the four sections of a single cabinet and nothing is paralleled, so every element in a hang can be gain- and HF-shaded on its own. That is the difference between the 14P and the rest of the range. On XTO 12P two cabinets share a D24X, which is ample resolution for most hangs. On a stadium-length 14P hang the extra resolution is the point: the top of the array and the bottom of the array are doing different jobs. Load the XTO 14P preset and run the 8-pole Socapex loom carrying the four sections. The 14P locks to XTO 12P, 10P and 8P through the standard transition hardware, so a 14P main section can carry a 12P outfill or a 10P downfill in the same hang.
