Standard commercial PA systems are not built for the shock, vibration, dust, moisture, and temperature extremes common in military settings. Defence applications demand loudspeakers that maintain performance from -20°C to +50°C, survive rain, sand, and shock, and deliver speech intelligibility (STI > 0.7) even in high-ambient-noise environments like airfields or vehicle depots.

Intelligibility is paramount. SSOUNDS uses advanced beamforming and constant-directivity horns that focus acoustic energy onto the audience, reducing reflections and reverberation. Our systems incorporate automatic ambient-noise sensing and level control, ensuring messages remain audible as background noise changes.

For mass notification, we integrate with emergency systems via standard protocols (e.g., EN 54-16, Dante, AES67). Multiple redundancy layers – including dual amplifiers, redundant power supplies, and automatic failover – guarantee that critical announcements are never lost. Battery-backed or independent power options keep the system operational during mains failure.

Every SSOUNDS military PA component is built to withstand harsh field conditions. Enclosures are constructed from marine-grade aluminium or UV-stabilised polypropylene, with stainless steel fasteners and sealed input panels. IP66 rating means protection against powerful water jets and dust ingress, while optional MIL-STD-810G shock/vibration certification is available for mobile or deployable units.

Mounting options include fixed pole mounts, tripod stands for rapid deployment, and vehicle-mounted brackets. For temporary field use, our battery-powered portable systems offer up to 12 hours of continuous operation and can be daisy-chained to cover larger areas. All connectors are ruggedised (Neutrik XLR, PowerCON) and covered when not in use.

Fixed installations on bases typically use a distributed system of weatherproof horn loudspeakers or compact line arrays, zoned for different areas (barracks, parade ground, gate, hangar). Centralised DSP and amplifiers with network control allow operators to page specific zones or all-call from a single console.

For mobile applications – such as convoy briefings, field headquarters, or disaster response – SSOUNDS offers trailer-mounted 'giant voice' systems with long-throw horns achieving 140 dB SPL at 1 metre. These systems can be towed, airlifted, or palletised, and include integrated generators or battery banks. Quick-deploy tripod arrays with self-powered speakers are also available for squad-level use.

Modern military PA must interface with existing C2 (command and control) networks, including IP-based intercoms, radio systems, and emergency alert platforms. SSOUNDS systems support standard audio-over-IP (AoIP) protocols like Dante and AES67, as well as analog and digital inputs for legacy equipment.

Our DSP controllers can be managed via secure web interfaces or dedicated control panels, with full SNMP monitoring for system health. For classified environments, we offer air-gapped configurations and encrypted audio transport. Integration with mass notification software (e.g., Everbridge, AtHoc) is straightforward, enabling automated alerts for chemical spills, air raids, or other threats.
