Koinonia General Assembly 2025: five days at National Stadium Abuja

Koinonia Global's General Assembly, The Mandate, filled National Stadium in Abuja for five days in 2025. SSOUNDS designed and delivered the production from the stage roof to the delay screens, and the figures from the build show what a multi day stadium gathering takes.

The main PA was 180 line array elements and 80 subwoofers. A stadium bowl is a long throw with a lot of hard surface behind the crowd, so the arrays were aimed to cover the seating and the pitch without exciting the stands, and the subwoofers were distributed so the low end was even from the front of the pitch to the upper tiers. Delay screens at the back of the bowl carried the picture to the people the stage was furthest from.

The stage measured 64 feet by 40 feet with a runway of about 230 square metres reaching into the congregation, and the roof over it carried the lighting rig and the upstage LED. About 300 square metres of LED went into the main screens, the delay screens and the stage. Over 770 lighting fixtures were rigged across the roof, the stage and the stadium, which is the scale needed to light a stadium bowl for the cameras as well as for the people in it.

Power for five days came from six generators with backup, because a stadium production cannot depend on a single feed. The photographs on the project page show the daytime build, the stage edge monitors, the drum riser and the stadium from the bowl: the parts of the job that are usually invisible once the lights go down.

Five days is the real difference between this and a one night event. The system has to be tuned once and then hold its calibration through heat, dust and a schedule of morning and evening sessions. Monitoring at the stage edge, a drum riser that keeps the kit isolated, and a crew that runs the same show in the same way every session are what make day five sound like day one.

Koinonia Global is a long standing SSOUNDS client. The Annual Convention at the Jos International Trade Fair Complex, where a flown centre cluster and six ground stacked delay towers covered 30,000 worshippers, is written up here: Koinonia Global Annual Convention. The project record for the General Assembly, with the full set of figures and photographs, is here: Koinonia General Assembly, The Mandate.

SSOUNDS builds its own line arrays, subwoofers, amplifiers and DSP, and produces stadium scale worship events from its Abuja base.
